Whups! I meant to pimp this last night but was overcome by a serious case of not-being-able-to-stay-awake.

[livejournal.com profile] st_salieri has created an LJ community called [livejournal.com profile] buffy_love, which is all about...you guessed it! Expressing interest in and appreciation for the wonderful character of Buffy.

I'm all for it. While I didn't always like her actions and wasn't always thrilled with the direction ME took the character, I think Buffy too often gets a raw deal. There were a lot of other characters, including Spike, who did less-than-admirable things, and I still love them, too. Not what they did. But I love their painfully flawed, wonderfully complex, all-too-human selves. (And, yes, the all-too-human includes Spike, Angel, Anya, etc.)

Even when I was put out with Buffy, I always understood why she was behaving that way. And she wasn't always wrong. Not when you look at things from her perspective. Could she have handled things better at times? Hell, yeah. But couldn't we all?

And Buffy has many, many admirable qualities. Sometimes, with the emotional backlash of Seasons 6 and 7, it can be a little too easy to forget that. Now, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] buffy_love, there will be plenty of things to remind us.

So, if you'd like to be a part of this growing community and haven't already joined...what the heck are you waiting for?! Heh.

And I’m still bouncing over the latest news on the Spike movie front. (If you haven't heard, see my last post.) Either I'm the only one, or everybody else is out enjoying this glorious Saturday. Sheesh. What's wrong with you people? Where are your priorities? Heh.

Any potential misgivings aside, I just really, really want to see Spike in the honest-to-gosh leading role. Just once. He and James (especially) deserve it.

Btw, I hear it's JM's birthday today. Here's wishing him the best ever!
